Responsibilities and Requirements for Exhibition at Grace Church

Exhibiting artists must be current members of the Appalachian Pastel Society.

Artwork exhibited must be Original (no giclees or other reproductions) and done in dry pastel. (No oil pastels.) 80% of the exposed surface of the painting must be dry pastel.

Artwork must be properly framed, with frames in good condition. Mats are not required.

Artwork must be finished on the back in a professional manner. No saw tooth hangers are permitted. Hanging wire must be secure.

The Gallery has the right to refuse any painting for any reason; including work that does not reflect the quality of the overall show.  No nudes will be hung in this show.

Participants are required to deliver their own paintings to the show (or to make arrangements to have them delivered) between 10:00 and 3:00 on Saturday, May 10th, the day of the APS regular Member meeting.

Participants are required to pick up their own paintings (or make arrangements to have them picked up) between 12:00 noon and 1:00 PM on either Monday, July 7 or Tuesday, July 8, 2014. The Gallery has no obligation to store works not picked up on time.  After 30 days, unclaimed work becomes the property of APS.

Each painting exhibited must include a label on the back that lists:

     The Title

     The painting’s dimensions –unframed and as framed.

     The price.

     The Artist’s Name.

     The Artist’s phone number.

 

Exhibiting artists will be required to have signed an APS Non-juried Exhibition Notice of Liability Disclaimer. The exhibition venue may require additional contractual or liability documentation.

APS will collect a $10 entry fee when the paintings are delivered. The fees will be donated to Grace Church.

If a patron expresses interest in purchasing a painting, the Church will refer them to the artist. If this results in the sale of the painting, the Church requests a 10% donation from the artist.

Exhibiting artists are encouraged to attend the Opening Reception on Sunday, May 18, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

A Notebook of Artist’s Biographies will be available for Gallery patrons. It is highly recommended that exhibiting artists periodically review and update the information included.
